Swords, Rings and Magic Things - Chapter 7

What Leslie's always imagined of dark, underground, possibly secret passages is that it's supposed to be cold, eerie and quiet, quiet, quiet, save for the distant, inexplicable, but universal sound of dripping water at any given time.

"What. Is that."

Agatha doesn't answer, only kicks the door to their room closed behind her. Leslie is not sure how one manages to hold something cheerily, but it's happening right in front of her.

Her clothes have been folded as neatly as she can manage stop her bed, like Agatha had told her to before leaving. The backpack, already filled, sits at the foot of her bed, and she'd like to think it's as anxious about the extra things as she is.

The next two days are occupied with walking, buying supplies, Agatha insisting Leslie eats more, and mostly being outside after Agatha noticed how jittery Leslie looked staying in one room for more than a couple hours.

She'd also insisted on Leslie buying more clothes, and at least breaking in the sturdy shoes they’d gotten her, insisting that she had a way to carry it all.

"And soon, you'll have a way yourself," she added in that horribly ineffable way Leslie was quickly realizing that Agatha did when she was trying to be either subtle or mysterious.

"You want her to what," The bespectacled shopkeeper blurts.

The blonde pinches his arm. Sharply, if the pained look on his face is anything to go by. "Tim, hush, it's barely enough to repay the kindness. Just look at her!"

Leslie realizes that she probably still looks horribly disheveled. A hand self-
consciously begins smoothing down her hair.

"They were probably going to steal from here themselves in the first place."

Agatha merrily wheezes behind her.

Target: Napalm Flask

'Confirmed to be a small bottle. Glass is tinted orange and does not have a cork or stopper. Confirmed properties are turning anything poured inside then out flammable. i think agatha said it also turns them explosive sometimes? Another confirmed property is sometimes turning substances explosive'

Leslie feels a presence peeking over her shoulder, and also feels a brief flare of pride at not startling this time.

Clutching at the back of an old woman's jacket while going through the city streets at sixty miles per hour was not how she'd been planning to spend her morning. Upon seeing the motorbike parked by the street, Leslie had promised herself not to scream. Not even once.

Swords, Rings and Magic Things - Chapter 1

The exhaustion, she knows, is in there somewhere, weighing her down like uninvited passengers. She doesn't realize exactly how tired she is until she chooses a compartment in the middle of the train and shuts the door behind her.

The slumping against the door, at least for a minute, is something she can't help, feeling the straps of her item and backpack lighten from her sore shoulders and staring out the window at the pre-dawn station. It's not until someone walks by the outside of her compartment that she jerks back to awareness.
